Hotel Review: Row NYC

May 28, 2014 • By

Frankly, we chose Row NYC because of the price and proximity to the Jacob Javits Convention Center. We were in the city for Surtex.

Normally, I don’t want to stay in Times Square area, since it is so touristy and there are all sorts of doe-eyed folks just off the bus mingling with hawkers on the streets, handing out fliers for tours and shows.  Getting through the revolving doors and past the crowd on the sidewalk is a daily challenge when you stay in this area.  But Surtex had made Row NYC one of the preferred hotels, and that meant there was nearby shuttle service back and forth to the show every day, and the price was right.READ MORE

We’re Off to Surtex!

May 11, 2014 • By

So excited to be headed out soon to the Surtex show in NYC.  We’ll be showcasing our on-trend travel-inspired artwork and surface patterns.  Surtex is the largest art licensing show in the country.  We’ll (try to) send some updates from the show…so watch this space!

We're Off to Surtex!

Here’s part of our Water Lillies collection.  Loving it!

Surtex is May 18-20.  We hope to come back from New York with good news to share!

Cityscapes and Car Windows

April 23, 2014 • By

Today I’m having fun with Passion Passport’s photo challenge on Cityscapes.  I love snapping a pic of a skyline or downtown street scene as my husband drives through a busy city.  (And to be honest, he lives for big city driving. He loves the challenge and intensity of it.  And since he’s good at it – I just sit back, stick my iPhone out the window and check out the view.)

Mirrored: Philadelphia

I love today’s prompt from Wordpress entitled “Mirrored”.  Here are two recent iPhone pix from our progressive road trip.  One taken on a gray day in Philadelphia, the other on a bright day in Manhattan.

I’ve always been fascinated by reflections.  Oh, and cities!

9/11: If I Die, Let it Be at The Ritz-Carlton

September 11, 2012 • By

Eleven years ago today I was on a morning train from Washington DC to NYC when news began filtering in on passenger cell phones…supposedly, a plane had hit one of the Twin Towers.  Strange.  (Maybe the weather? Fog?)  I’m running late – I should have left an hour earlier, but I’d decided to sleep in a bit. But everything is fine.  I’m going to have breakfast and go shopping at Century 21, that great discount fashion store, next to the World Trade Center.  No one is expecting me until later in the day, when I am supposed to attend a gallery opening that the folks at Conde Nast Traveler have invited me to.
