Our planned 12-month progressive road trip is going well. We’re on our second leg of the trip, the 21st day (with a five week break in the middle to catch up on real life). We’ve visited eight states and the District of Columbia, so far. Along the way, we’ve planned some great moments, like a couple of special hotels, a Broadway show, and an opera at Fallingwater. We’ve been to myriad art museums – and today we’ll visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.
But on the weekend, we accidentally discovered the Pittsburgh Jazz Festival.
We went to Pittsburgh specifically for The Warhol, which is a great, 6-story tribute to Pop Art (and has a fab gift shop where we left some cash). We bought Warhol t-shirts and dishes and a Chelsea Girls laptop case, as well as some gifts which shall, at this point, remain unnamed. Then, as we drove off for a quick tour of downtown Pittsburgh — we heard it.
The Pittsburgh Jazz Festival is only in its third year, and will probably continue to grow. But the talent on the three stages was awesome! The photo below was taken from a parking deck above one of the stages, and it was great seeing so many people out enjoying the sun, the music and the downtown restaurants and food trucks.
Wonder what we’ll discover today?
